Monday 14th May - By The Sounds of things....
Hear ye! Traverse the boundaries of sound and sight, with a talk on converting images to soundwaves, and exhibitions where you visualise music and see 3D bacterial sculptures! Learn about 3D sound and acoustics design for VR (headset included!). If chemistry is more your thing, stick around for a fizzing finale set to the tune of the aptly-chosen “Blue Monday”.
Tuesday 15th May - What a mouthfull!
This night will celebrate all things mouthy! Starting with taste, we will explore the art of beer-making, visiting brewing methods through the ages. Moving on to communication, a fantastic art installation by an MMU student forms the centrepiece for a discussion on the language of hard science vs. “pseudo-science”. Lastly, hear just how poetic science can be, with a mini science-poetry workshop
Wednesday 16th May - Through tinted Lenses
Our sensation spectaculaire series ends with a night all about sight! Looking back in history, we will trace the developments in imaging dinosaurs, and see how prehistoric men and cave drawings were influenced by acoustics. With an accompanying art piece we will find out how dementia patients sees the world. 3D bacterial sculptures will be back, together with a light perception camera obscura box!
