Seeking investment for your tech business?

Looking for investment can be a time consuming and often stressful process. Mercia takes a different view. We believe that as an investment partner we should keep things simple.

If you are an innovative business looking for debt, equity or growth investment, then come along to our next Investor Clinic in Manchester on Tuesday 6th February. Mercia Fund Managers is partnering with MSP to provide dedicated office hours to help entrepreneurs develop strategies to raise finance.

Whether you are an early-stage technology company looking for a partner to share the risk and the reward, or an established small business looking for debt finance to grow, or even a larger company looking for scale-up capital, then Mercia has a range of different funds which you might benefit from.

February's Investor Clinic will be hosted by Head of Technology Investments, Julian Viggars, who has over 20 years’ venture capital experience.

Julian joined the Group in 2003 with over 20 years' venture capital experience. He now heads all third-party tech fund activities, and works closely with the CIO, supporting the Investment Teams and managing Mercia’s proprietary funnel of Emerging Stars as they progress. He is also a Fund Manager for NPIF - Mercia Equity Finance, the RisingStars Growth Funds, and the Finance Yorkshire Seedcorn Fund, which include successful listed businesses Blue Prism, Xeros, and Optibiotix PLC. In addition, Julian has been an non-executive director of Xeros PLC since 2009, and is a member of the BVCA’s membership committee.

Julian has experience across all tech sectors and was previously an investment director and COO of BioProjects International PLC, an AIM-listed early-stage technology fund, which he cofounded with private investor, Jim Slater. Prior to that, he was with accountancy firm Smith & Williamson in London, and spent time with Barclays Ventures working on small PE buyout transactions.

These sessions are an opportunity to get feedback on business ideas, advice on investment options, or have questions answered about growing your business. Please bring along a short description or slide deck on what your company does and what you are hoping to achieve.
