Join us for drinks and networking at the eighth Manchester Internet of Things Meetup. Once again it will be hosted by Manchester Science Partnerships (http://mspl.co.uk) at their newly opened Bright Building on Pencroft Way. There will also be the opportunity to hear from some of the people working on creative and innovative IoT projects in the North West. Speaking on the night will be:
Dr Carl Ellis : Carl is one of the founders of H&E Inventions Ltd (http://www.heinventions.com), a Manchester based consultancy specialising in the use of IoT technology for the design of ‘programmable physical spaces’. His interest in IoT applications extends back to his PhD research at Lancaster University into data-driven approaches to optimising domestic heating efficiency. Since then he has worked on a range of IoT and Ubiquitous Computing projects – some of which he will be describing on the night. A common theme is the aim of providing hands-off, frictionless interaction between physical spaces and the people who occupy them.
Michael Cropper : Michael is the Founder and Managing Director of Contrado Digital in Blackburn, whose main line of business is strategic digital marketing. However, he has a personal interest in a much broader range of technology - including the IoT. In a previous career he also worked as a professional chef and experienced first-hand the inefficient manual procedures required to ensure compliance with food safety requirements. Based on these experiences, Contrado Digital recently launched their new GeezerCloud (https://www.geezercloud.co.uk) IoT product range designed specifically to automate the process of ensuring that catering operations of all sizes conform to the food safety legislation. Michael will be presenting the technology behind GeezerCloud as well as describing the challenges associated with designing IoT products for regulated markets such as food safety.
