Manchester Internet of Things Meetup 7

Join us for drinks and networking at the seventh Manchester Internet of Things Meetup. There will also be the opportunity to hear from some of the people working on creative and innovative IoT projects in the North West. Speaking on the night will be:

Deena Denaro : Deena is a cross-disciplinary creative professional with skills covering media production and all aspects of design, from product to experience design. Inspired by a recent article in the Harvard Business Review (https://hbr.org/2016/04/the-internet-of-things-needs-design-not-just-technology) about why the Internet of Things needs design as much as technology, Deena’s talk “Provoking Desire” introduces the techniques of Abstraction as a set of tools for product and interface design. She also explores how these basic building blocks can be leveraged to evoke intuitive and visceral responses in customers toward objects, products and apps.

Michelle Hua : Michelle (http://www.michellehua.co.uk/bio/) is a speaker, writer and Founder and CEO of Made With Glove, (http://www.madewithglove.co.uk/) a UK wearable tech company designing fashionable heated gloves for women. During her entrepreneurial journey, she co-founded Women of Wearables (http://www.womenofwearables.com/), the UK and Europe’s first organisation that inspires, supports and connects women in wearable tech, fashion tech, IoT and AR/VR. Now the Manchester Ambassador, Michelle continues to organise events, interviews women (https://www.womenofwearables.com/wowwomen/) in the industry, writes articles and delivers wearable tech workshops (http://www.michellehua.co.uk/workshops/) to encourage more girls to consider a career in STEM. Michelle will be speaking about the recent trends in wearable tech hardware devices including Pet Tech, Fem Tech, Health Tech and Sports Tech and with the recent collaboration between Google and Levi’s—could the Internet of Clothes (IoC) be the next big thing?
