The Citylabs campus is undergoing a £95m expansion which will see Citylabs 2.0, 3.0 & 4.0 created within Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust’s (MFT) hospital campus and a world-leading hub for precision medicine and health innovation established.

The Citylabs campus is immediately surrounded by the Manchester Royal Infirmary, Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, Manchester Royal Eye Hospital, and Saint Mary's Hospital, as part of the UK’s largest NHS Trust.

This is a place where brilliant research is translated into new healthcare diagnostics and treatments which can be quickly adopted into Manchester’s health system for improved patient benefits and health outcomes.


Businesses that locate here have direct access to MFT's specialist clinical resources and expertise from researchers, clinicians and procurement teams, as well as MSP and Bruntwood SciTech’s specialist growth support and events programme - including access to funding, talent, new markets, and a large partner network, including the University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University. The £35m Citylabs 3.0 will see the Old St Mary's Hospital and listed chapel refurbished, as well as a beautiful new build constructed, which joins the historical building by a beautiful glass atrium, in similar way to Citylabs 1.0.

Citylabs 3.0 will include meeting rooms, event spaces and breakout spaces, as well as food and beverage retail units. A beautiful new courtyard and landscaped area will also surround Citylabs 2.0 & 3.0 for the enjoyment of customers, clinicians and hospital patients. Once complete, we anticipate Citylabs 2.0, 3.0, & 4.0 will bring additional economic growth in excess of £100million and over 750 new jobs to the city.
