Cloud computing provider, IT Farm, has won a contract with landlord, Manchester Science Parks (
msp), to provide fully hosted desktop ‘cloud’ solutions for staff based across its four sites, as of March 2012.

IT Farm was set up in 2005 and provides cloud services to over 100 SME customers across the UK.
David McTear, Estates Manager at
msp, said of the appointment: “From msp’s point of view, moving to the cloud provides us with a greater level of security, performance and resilience in our IT systems.
“IT Farm was appointed due to the team’s technical expertise and excellent customer service. The management of the design and implementation of services, which included a level of customer personalisation, ensured the system was introduced with the minimum of disruption to the msp business.
Danny Walker, managing director at IT Farm, added: “With
msp we have a great case study that showcases how well cloud computing solutions work for multi-site businesses.
“Cloud computing has been around for a while now but over the last year we are seeing an increase in the number of companies investing in this technology – in 2011 we increased our turnover by 50% and we are on track for 100% growth this year.
“I think that businesses are becoming far more clued-up about how different technologies can work to streamline work processes and save money. Outsourcing IT functions to the cloud is often more efficient than maintaining in house servers and support and can also help companies become greener. Ultimately you are reducing the burden on your business.”
