Community, Culture and Public Realm in CityVerve
Thursday 9th February 08.00am - 09.30am
Greenheys room 1
CityVerve brings together the brightest minds and pioneering use of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies to redefine ‘smart’ in the context of a living, working city. It aims to build and deliver a smarter, more connected Manchester. It means creating a city that uses technology to meet the complex needs of its people.
After all, a city is brought to life by the people that live, work and play at the heart of it. This project isn’t really about streets, buildings or buses. Nor is it just about giving cutting edge connectivity to sensors and devices. It isn’t about ‘things’ at all, it’s about people.
On 9 February Feimatta Conteh, Programme Manager at FutureEverything will be joining us to discuss how smart cities are about much more than technology. She will talk about the importance of engaging communities in developing technological solutions through Human Centred Design, and how animation of the public realm through experiences and artworks helps to understand some of the issues and concerns around emerging IoT technologies
FutureEverything are the CityVerve partner leading on community, culture and public realm.
