Manchester Science Partnerships (MSP) continues to be home to companies who push the boundaries in digital technology, telecoms, network infrastructure, cloud computing, storage, data management and health informatics/digital health.
A key player in this sector, MSP is home to over 65 companies employing more than 1,300 people across the full spectrum of the digital industry.
It is the location of the UK’s largest university computing department which each year injects 5,000 fresh computer graduates into this talent pool.
In 2015 MSP was part of a ground-breaking public-private consortium that won a £10m national competition for Manchester to be the UK's Internet of Things (IoT) City Demonstrator, awarded by The Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS). The partnership included global technology giant Cisco UK, the University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University, MSP, BT, and innovative UK SMEs including PrismTech.
The resultant project, named CityVerve, will demonstrate applications of IoT and services in four areas: healthcare, transport, energy and environment and culture and community.
